
Ever wonder why the carts in Central Park and others sell such boring, expensive food? Because, instead of encouraging true entrepreneurship, the Parks Department hands permits out to the highest bidder. Big, boring, evil companies invariably win. Our friends at New Yorkers for Parks published an
interesting report today, encouraging the Parks Department to reform its concession process to include more than the bottom line. We couldn't have said it better. They should also loosen up their application requirements, which include three years of audited financial records and a letter of reference from a Saudi prince.
